Could Renault 4’s EV route planner be the end of range anxiety?

Get behind the wheel of the new Renault 4. What do you see?
A 10-inch digital display. The electric opening canvas sunroof. Iconic retro-inspired design.

There’s the obvious great stuff. Then there’s the stuff only the experts really know about.

So we asked Renault UK’s EV Product Manager Amy Williams to get her take on Renault 4’s best-kept features, and the one hack she can’t live without.

The end of range anxiety: Renault 4’s EV route planner

It’s a feeling both EV drivers and the EV-curious know all too well. Will I have enough charge? Where will I stop? How will I find a charging point?

But what if your car didn’t just have the answers, it had the whole journey planned? Introducing Renault 4’s EV route planner, the feature making EV range anxiety a thing of the past. Using Google Maps and your car’s charge, it plans charging stops on longer electric journeys.

Accessible through Renault 4’s openR link multimedia system, it does the hard work for you. It tells you where to stop, how long for, and how much to charge before setting off. At each charging point, it’ll show you the type and number of charging sockets, opening hours, and how to pay. It can even prepare the battery ahead of time, so it’s ready for optimal charging when you arrive.

Ironically, the feature most EV drivers need is the one many miss. For Amy, it’s the ultimate long-distance hack when travelling home from London to Wales, or anywhere else for that matter.

A complete no-brainer. Quite literally, it does the thinking for you.

“As someone who does long journeys every week, honestly, it’s a lifesaver. It gives me confidence when travelling far and removes the complexity of electric journeys.”
